Introduction

In these project the members have tried to increase the functioning and flexibility of a can opener currently used in the market. According to the consumer report from the Black and Decker customer service department, users of the can opener could not operated it for tall and big cans. For this reason the improvisation in the design of the shape of the principal shell was considered. Parts were added and redesigned to the assembly of the main shell. The improved design serves the purpose of can-opener being able to open big and extra tall cans also. Its ergonomic design makes it more comfortable to use.

The objective of the project is to create the model using general and advanced features of Pro/Engineer software and then analyze the stress distribution in critical part in the whole assembly using Finite Element Method-by the help of Pro/Mechanica software. For this purpose the gear integral with the can supporter was considered as it transmits the power to the supported and also suffers maximum constrains
